What Is #89 Stone?
#89 crushed stone is one of the smaller ASTM-graded aggregates, with pieces around 3/8 inch tapering down to fines. The small size and angular shape let it lock together tightly, which makes it a favorite for filling paver joints, bedding flagstone, and chip-seal applications.
Because it carries some fines, #89 stone compacts firmer than open-graded stone, giving you a stable surface in tight spaces. For a slightly larger drainage stone, see #67 stone; for a clean larger option, 3/4" crushed stone.
