Crushed Concrete
Also known as: Recycled Concrete, Recycled Concrete Aggregate, RCA, Crushed Concrete Base, Concrete Base
3/4 inch recycled crushed concrete. Angular broken concrete blended with fines that compacts into a firm, load-bearing base for driveways, parking pads and access roads, at a lower cost than quarried base stone.

Everything You Need to Know About Crushed Concrete
Crushed concrete is recycled concrete aggregate: old slabs, sidewalks, footings and curbs that are broken up, run through a crusher and screened to 3/4 inch. What comes out is a mix of angular concrete pieces and the sand-sized fines that break off them, the same dense, well-graded structure that makes quarried road base work, which is why crushed concrete is one of the most widely used base materials for driveways, parking pads and access roads.
The fines are what make it perform. Spread in lifts, lightly moistened and compacted, the small particles fill the gaps between the larger pieces while the angular faces lock together. The old cement paste on the broken surfaces also helps the layer bind as it settles, so a well-compacted base tends to get firmer over its first season rather than loosening. It does not set like new concrete, but it holds its shape under cars, pickups, delivery trucks and equipment.
Because it is recycled, crushed concrete keeps demolition material out of landfills and usually costs less than crushed limestone or granite base. It is light grey to off-white, with pebbles from the original concrete showing in the broken faces and the occasional fleck of brick or asphalt, so it is chosen for what goes under a surface rather than for looks. Steel and debris are removed during processing. For a cleaner finished driveway, top it with a layer of driveway gravel; for French drains, pipe bedding or a clean stone bed, choose a washed, open-graded stone instead.

Common Uses
Driveway & Parking Pad Base
Crushed concrete is a go-to base layer for new and rebuilt driveways and parking pads. Compacted in lifts, it forms a firm, load-bearing foundation that resists rutting and potholes, and it can serve as the driving surface on its own or be topped with driveway gravel for a cleaner finish.
Road Base & Access Roads
Use crushed concrete as the base course for private roads, farm lanes, equipment yards and construction site entrances. It stands up to heavy trucks and machinery and gives an all-weather surface that keeps work moving after rain.
Sub-Base for Patios, Walkways & Pads
Under pavers, walkways, sheds and hot tub pads, a compacted layer of crushed concrete spreads the load and keeps the surface above it level. Its coarse pieces let water move through better than native clay, so water is less likely to sit under the finished surface. Finish with a bedding layer of sand or screenings before laying pavers.
Fill & Backfill
Crushed concrete is an economical structural fill for raising low spots, building up grade and backfilling behind retaining walls and around footings. Its angular pieces compact into a stable mass that will not wash out or turn to mud the way soil fill can.
Why Choose Crushed Concrete
Lower Cost Than Quarried Base
Recycled material skips the quarry, so crushed concrete usually costs less per ton than crushed stone base. Ours is priced below our driveway gravel at every order size, which adds up quickly on large driveways and access roads.
Compacts Hard and Stays Put
The mix of angular pieces and fines locks together under a plate compactor or roller, and the old cement paste helps the layer bind as it settles. The result is a dense base that resists shifting, rutting and washouts.
Recycled and Responsible
Every load reuses concrete that would otherwise go to a landfill and reduces the need for newly quarried stone, without giving up the strength you need under a driveway or road.
Versatile Base and Fill
One material covers driveway and parking pad bases, access roads, sub-base under patios and sheds, and general fill, so a single delivery can handle most of the groundwork on a project.
